From waterfalls, kangaroos and koalas

In Adelaide we quickly refill our supplies and head towards Grampians National Park.

We spend the night at a rest stop next to a highway and sleep better than expected. The next morning we drive to a roadhouse in Keith. It's on the way and there are supposed to be free showers there. After freshening up, we continue driving. Unfortunately, it starts raining in the national park so we decide to only visit the Mackenzie Falls. But first we are greeted by a wallaby in the parking lot. The waterfalls are really beautiful and the national park itself is impressive.

We spend the night at a free campground in a forest. When we drive in, it's pitch dark and we think we will spend the night alone there. But that's not the case and Claudi's uneasy feeling disappears.

However, a little later, a few inconsiderate German backpackers annoy us with terrible techno music until late at night. The next morning, some Australians get their revenge for the nightly entertainment. They park their SUV with the doors open towards the disturbers of the peace and play Marilyn Manson at full volume. We secretly enjoy it and shortly afterwards honk as we pass the probably still awake Germans.

After this satisfaction, we drive to Town Hill Reserve. It is a volcanic crater lake with an island in the middle. Koalas, kangaroos, emus, wallabies, some birds, snakes and echidnas live on the island. Unfortunately, we don't get to see the echidnas.

Afterwards, we head towards the Great Ocean Road. There, we meet Niko, whom we have been in contact with for a few days now. Together, we want to drive the Great Ocean Road. It's a welcome change to chat with someone else.

Niko was in Sydney for 7 weeks at a language school and now, just like us, wants to travel the east coast all the way to Cairns. One of his first adventures was cage diving with great white sharks. Unbelievable!
