The weather is not as good as yesterday, but the rest area where we wake up this morning has not lost its beauty.
We have breakfast, prepare our motorhome and continue to a lonely beach section where there is a beautiful lighthouse and where you can take a nice walk. We pass the lighthouse on a lonely country road and arrive at a small gravel lot. We dress warmly and walk uphill from the beach towards the north. We take some photos of the picturesque lighthouse and enjoy the rugged scenery.
When we are 100 meters in front of a house, we are no longer sure if the path we are taking is not a private path. We decide to turn around and this time we walk along the rocky sandy beach. Here too we take some photos and jump from stone to stone.
As I turn a corner, something suddenly rushes out from between the huge rocks, about five meters away, and heads towards the water. After a few seconds, I can finally see what it is: A baby seal. I quickly try to take a photo, but I can't find the little gray thing among the gray rocks anymore. Just as I was about to lower the camera, I see, out of the corner of my eye, a much larger specimen emerge from the rocks - probably the mother. She poses on a stone not five meters away from me, seems quite relaxed, and after ten seconds of eye contact, she turns away and crawls after her baby into the water.
We are completely euphoric from this encounter and return to the car. We drive and leave behind one of the longest day trips (almost two hours at a stretch) until we arrive at a reserve where camping is allowed.
Just like in the reserve where we hiked in the first few days, we have to go through a lock here too before we can park our van in front of the information center.
There is WIFI here, which motivates us to take care of many organizational tasks and make some video calls back home. It gets dark, so we prepare dinner, watch some series, and then go to sleep.
