Today we took the car in wonderful weather and drove the Seven Lakes Route. We only found five because the signage was so bad. But that didn't matter, because the five lakes were worth every kilometer (the entire route was almost 300 km long). We were accompanied by "our" volcano Villarrica, which was always by our side at the first three lakes so to speak. It is fascinating when this gigantic mountain with its permanent smoke suddenly reappears out of nowhere. At the other lakes, we could look towards the Shoshuenco volcano. The lakes are crystal clear and obviously suitable for swimming. In the rather uninspiring towns we passed through, we found the usual black sandy beaches. It's vacation time in Chile, so there was a lot of activity. The most beautiful lake for us, because it was untouched, was the smallest, namely Lake Neltume. The road was bumpy as usual, but drivable and the view was truly magnificent. We ended the day in the café/restaurant where we had already spent our waiting time on Monday. We really like Onces Alemanas. And surprisingly, our waiter spoke German. The young man is from Villarrica and attended the German school there. He is now studying in Santiago and is home with his parents during the holidays. Including a holiday job. We were delighted because we have only met very few people so far who speak a language other than Spanish.
