We set off by car. It took two hours to drive from Hurstville near Sydney (the place where we found an affordable hotel) to the Blue Mountains — our destination for today.
Once we got there, we were greeted by endless expanses, seemingly endless jungle, rocks, plants and exotic birds.
We can't go on long hikes with Kian, but we can do small paths and tracks. And so we explored 4 different spots and were able to marvel at 3 waterfalls.
What I love most about places like this? The silence. Apart from the few tourists who were milling around the spots (and actually it was only really crowded at Echo Point), there is nothing to be heard anywhere except the sound of the waterfalls and all kinds of birdsong. Even though I'm such a city kid, I love this silence and enjoy it every time.
This blog is not meant to be a declaration of love for Australia (a declaration of love for traveling, yes 🤣) and therefore the negative aspects must also find their place here.
We miss Japanese toilets. It's always a nightmare to go to the toilet here. At the moment it's even worse than in Thailand. Because while there I only have to worry about a big cockroach running over my feet, Australian public toilets are not only dirty, but also full of cobwebs and flying insects. So I'm always afraid that I'll come across a big or even poisonous spider or snake or something else.
Dirty toilets annoy me so much in Germany, but these are really next level. I took photos for you yesterday... you really think twice about whether you really have to go 🤣
But well, maybe that's the price we have to pay. There are worse things... right?
We don't need to say anything more about the day. Just look at the pictures and you will be left speechless, just like us.
I think when we get back to Hamburg, it will take a while for us to process all the amazing things we experienced here. I find it hard to comprehend it all.
But we still have two weeks ahead of us. Our journey continues on Saturday. There are two more destinations in Australia on the agenda before we head to Kuala Lumpur on the 24th. Be excited — we are too.
