We camp for one more night just before Igoumenitsa, then we continue to Albania.
Already at the border, we are greeted with a warm 'welcome' at the passport control. After that, we cycle through very barren and impoverished areas until Butrint. There we also have the only negative experience with an aggressive boy who throws stones at us.
Shortly afterwards, at the ferry near Butrint, a boatman gives us drinking water and since then we have experienced incredible hospitality again.
To our surprise, there are many tourists in the country. Along the beautiful coast, construction is taking place everywhere, quite haphazardly and ostentatiously, and maybe even beyond the actual need.
The campsites are often very simple, but still well visited. We frequently meet interesting people, like two over-80s who are traveling with their Pössl camper.
After the sweaty ride along the beautiful southern coast of Albania and the great tour over the Llogarase Pass (1027 meters), we have arrived in Vlore on the Adriatic. After so much coastline, we are drawn to the interior of the country. Our destination is Berat, the city of a thousand windows.
