I calmly set off from the Marin Headlands after a hearty breakfast and take pleasure in the beautiful landscape as I drive out - hills with trees and beautiful houses.
Berkely is a city for academics and scientists. The university is at the center of life, and on campus, you could shoot a Harry Potter film or a TV series. Some of the buildings look like they were inspired by Newton himself.
Atop the hill above the university is the Lawrence National Laboratory, which unfortunately is not open to the public (particle accelerator for synchrotron radiation - you can see how the SF Bay Area is becoming a hub for technology).
Next, I head to Sacramento on the highway, relatively uneventful. However, Sacramento is located in the Central Valley and it's really hot there, no refreshing coastal breeze anymore.
In the evening, I manage to find a Japanese noodle restaurant.
I visit the recommended spots. I don't want to do Sacramento injustice, but I decide to continue driving the next day and not explore the city further.
