Day 13 - Golden Gate Park

Udgivet: 27.07.2019

This day was certainly the emotional low point of my trip so far. (That's because we know each other well enough by now). It never rains but it pours - maybe I'm trying to do too many things at once.

The hostel turned out to be a disaster - nothing was working properly and the guys were a bit peculiar and not successful (that's quite common in the land of the free and it's not funny to experience).

And then there's another thing you shouldn't be doing, but can't resist (I won't go into detail here, but luckily I'm not alone in the world - Thank you!)

So you resort to certain mantras - first get your things in order - go do laundry.

Then make a plan on how to explore the San Francisco region and Bay Area with Silicon Valley. (We're talking about a densely populated area the size of Nuremberg - Munich)

Then, on Sunday afternoon, go to Golden Gate Park.

The bus ride into San Francisco turns out to be another adventure, but in the end everything works out.

The "adventure mode" emerges - just take things as they come and trust that it will work out, even if it's different than planned. I end up where I want to be - of course at the beach.

Golden Gate Park is a huge expansive sports facility where you can find an area for almost every imaginable American outdoor game - except for clay pigeon shooting.

Luckily, I also find a free concert where hippie-like people enjoy dancing. There are some funny characters here.

I observe and get approached - "you look like you're out of your place" - I sure am today. It was still a nice conversation. ;)

On the way back, I visit a viewpoint and buy German pumpernickel from the organic store - couldn't stand the white bread nonsense anymore.

Regarding all the organic food stuff: it's available in certain stores here, it's hyped, and half of the customers are German or European (just like me). In Germany, every grocery store has the same products, but the selection in the US is larger. Sometimes it takes me several minutes to decide on a product...

On the way home, it was already dark and foggy - a creepy end-of-the-world atmosphere emerges, the fog is also cold.

As silly as a low point may be, things will go uphill from there. Every major endeavor involves making major adaptions.
