Ojochal and Uvita

Ojochal

Once again, I took the bus very early in the morning. To be precise, at 5 o'clock because it was the only direct bus to my next destination. Of course, there were other buses later, but they had detours and transfers. So the trip only took about 3 hours. I arrived in Ojochal right on time for breakfast at 8 o'clock.

I treated myself to a delicious pancake and a good coffee at the French bakery right at the entrance of the village. Then I started walking to my booked accommodation. I thought it was only a kilometer, but it took me about 90 minutes to reach the destination, completely drenched in sweat. And after a wild search, only because Maps.me and Google Maps showed different addresses. But as a reward, I was able to immediately start using my small camping tent for the next three nights.

I should have known better. Ojochal is indeed very beautiful and quiet, but practically without infrastructure unless you come here by car. All the distances on foot are long here. Nevertheless, I have to mention the absolute idyll here. It's perfect for arriving and unwinding. The French couple who own the place immediately invited me to use the newly installed pool, which provided me with enjoyable refreshment several times.

Trip to Uvita

I accepted the suggestion to rent a bike the next day and spontaneously set off to nearby Uvita, following the main road for 16 km. It was actually quite easy.

Every 1 km uphill for 15 minutes and then 1 km downhill in 1.5 minutes. The current midday sun intensified this daring bike tour. So, it was sweating, sweating, sweating again.

Eventually, I arrived in Uvita and immediately realized that choosing Ojochal was not a bad idea. Here in Uvita, there is everything, but it may have been too much for me again. I actually wanted to book a whale watching tour in the Marino Ballena National Park, but the three inquiries in three different agencies were contradictory. The first one said they are currently not going out, the second provider kept reducing the price within a few minutes, something didn't seem right, and the third one stuck to the stable price. However, none of them offered pick-up service. In the end, I decided against this excursion.

In Uvita, I visited the tourist waterfall in the afternoon, which was also completely crowded. But it was enough for a refreshment. In the late afternoon, I rode the 16 km back to Ojochal, where I enjoyed the following day once again in absolute tranquility and practiced doing nothing and taking a few rounds in the pool to cool off.
