Split / Croatia 🇭🇷

Udgivet: 21.07.2017

So, I'm back for a few days!

Now it's time for a trip from Rijeka (Croatia) to Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina). This time my travel partner is Max, who is just as good at planning as I am, so 3 minus points for him.

With )o( Express and Jessi on board, who happened to book the same flight, we arrived at Hannover airport where the next three familiar faces were already waiting. We had a smooth takeoff, landing, and everything, and on board the plane we decided to go directly to Split, so day 1 consists of driving for now, and later hopefully enjoying good food and a few beers.

The bus ride is interesting but exhausting, with 300 km and about 8 hours of waiting ahead of us. Why does it take so long? The sea on the right, mountains on the left, and curves everywhere, a pretty scenic route but not suitable for sensitive stomachs.

Once we arrive in Split, we set out to find our hostel, which we booked during the bus ride (still impossible to have wifi everywhere except in Germany). So far, everything has been surprisingly hassle-free, so we drop off our things and head into the city. It's damn beautiful here, the old town, the sea, and the food definitely convince us.

But since we started at 3 o'clock in the morning and neither of us slept much if at all, we go to bed relatively early after enjoying a good meal and a few cold drinks.

Day 2: We leave the communist-era hostel early in the morning and take a public bus to the beach.

Since we don't feel like being surrounded by too many tourists, we decide to go a bit further and climb down somewhere to end up in what feels like nowhere, but as always, the pictures tell more.

So Split is definitely worth a visit for a few days, everything is within walking distance, and despite being a tourist hotspot, the prices are quite affordable. Tomorrow we're going to Hvar...let's see...

PS: This whole city is red and blue, it starts with chips, peanut flips, beer, and other things and ends in street art. Such an identification of the city with Hajduk is remarkable and definitely enviable!
