Through the Houtsaegerduinen

The Oesthoekduinen and the Houtsaegerduinen near De Panne are a dune and dune forest area of more than 38 hectares located just south of De Panne, the westernmost municipality on the Belgian North Sea coast. A little further and you are in Dunkirk, France.

We went on a tour through the Houtsaegerduinen, before that we visited the De Nachtegaal visitor center and the village of De Panne. Walking through a forest and feeling the sand between your toes at the same time is a very special experience.

Even if I don't (completely) understand the language of Flanders, I strongly assume that with "Houtsaeger" something like "woodcutter" is meant?
