Horsewoman on an Icelandic horse in horse heaven
Yes, this is still the same blog, not hijacked by a horse crazy person, and I did not fly to Iceland either.
I will tell everything, promised!
But first, the most important thing: Did you know how challenging and demanding riding is? All riders will snort pityingly now, but for me as a beginner, a new world is opening up.
When I sit on a horse and can stay on top, I am just a passenger and not a rider, I now know that.
When I arrived 6 days ago, I still had the faint hope that riding is like riding a bike, because I rode as a child…
It is not. It is a physically and mentally demanding sport with a dramatic addiction factor. Just like sailing.
But let's start from the beginning: When we arrived in Iceland, our crew gradually left and Michael had to go back too.
On the other hand, I thought to myself, if I'm here anyway, I want to do something typical of Iceland and what is better than galloping on Icelandic horses across wide volcanic landscapes. Because I already rode before… so on the horse: straight back, knees and thighs firmly on the horse, and the reins held high like in a riding school. After six days, I know: reality was, I sat on the horse with a stiff back, squeezed my knees together in the front, and held the reins dangerously high. Now I am working on changing this and at the same time focusing on making my horse go in curves and sometimes trot as desired. According to my wishes. I was fortunate enough to have stumbled upon Yogihorse after some browsing on the internet. Here, in addition to horseback rides, there is also riding instruction with seat training. And so, during riding lessons, I sometimes act more stupidly and sometimes less stupidly, and still get to ride (on the most beloved and understanding horses) "galloping" with the others across wide volcanic landscapes.
