Our Caribbean cruise from Barbados

Udgivet: 12.04.2019

Today we are in Aruba. We had booked two excursions for today, so we started early. The first meeting for the 'Panorama Submarine Tour with Atlantis' was already at 7:45 am.

We were picked up at the pier and taken to Atlantis 6 with a shuttle ferry. There was already a lot to see on the way. For example, there was a half-sunken ship from Venezuela that was simply left there when it was no longer needed. Now we are waiting for permission to sink it completely.

At Atlantis 6, we all boarded the submarine. It was really interesting. Since I don't dive or snorkel, this was a good opportunity to see the underwater world. We saw corals, various fish, and three shipwrecks that now serve as artificial reefs. The submarine dove down to 45 m. However, there wasn't much to see there. Then we slowly went back up. There we boarded the ferry again, which took us back to the pier.

We didn't have much time until the next excursion 'Safari Bus Tour to Arashi Beach'. The colorful painted bus with our driver, King Banana, was already waiting for us at the pier. We drove through Oranjestad, where you could also see many luxurious houses. Aruba has an American touch. First, we went to the California Lighthouse, a lighthouse that is the landmark of Aruba. It was very windy on Aruba again.

Then we went to Arashi Beach. The loungers were included in the excursion, umbrellas were available for a fee. We found two loungers under a palm frond that didn't cost anything. The first thing we did was go into the sea and cool off. The beach was very beautiful there, and you don't need water shoes. However, lying there was not so pleasant because of the strong wind. A umbrella broke in front of us due to the wind. The umbrella was immediately collected, but there was no replacement, and the two had to sunbathe in the sun.

At the agreed time, King Banana picked us up there again with his safari bus. He had a large basket of rattles at the entrance, and we were supposed to take one each. Then he turned up the music and it was a fun ride back to the port. Everyone was looking at our bus.

We were really exhausted after the two excursions. There wasn't much happening in the evening. But fortunately, tomorrow is a sea day to relax.

That's it for now. The next report will continue.
