Punta Arenas - the southernmost continental city in the world. It is located at 53 degrees, 10 minutes south latitude, directly on the Strait of Magellan and opposite Tierra del Fuego. In terms of beauty, it probably won't win any prizes, but the town is still worth a visit. We decided to visit the Nao Victoria open-air museum. The Nao Victoria was Ferdinand Magellan's expedition ship and we visited a replica. Very impressive and unimaginable how one can endure something like that for 2 years. In addition to the Nao Victoria, you could also visit two other replicas.
We had to set sail again. Fortunately, only for 2 hours to reach Tierra del Fuego. The waves were somewhat bearable and the ship was trustworthy.
After arriving in Tierra del Fuego, our first stop was visiting the King Penguin Colony near Porvenir. These little animals are just adorable as they waddle around.
The chance encounter of the Sea-Bridge travel group in this refuge was simply hilarious. In the evening and the following morning, white goods (motorhomes) of all colors rolled in one after another. Maggi got scared because the parking maneuvers reminded her of Silke's first driving attempts. The older ladies and gentlemen were too busy to have time for a chat, unfortunately. The South American relaxation was not yet present in them. Therefore, we decided to extend our breakfast a little and let the travel group go. Well, after a short time, we caught up with the ladies and gentlemen. They trundled along at a speed of 20, feeling every bump on the gravel road individually. Simply amusing. Short explanation: Sea-Bridge offers not only vehicle shipping but also a guided tour through South America. Their slogan is "In 180 days from Ushuaia to Alaska". The fun is not exactly cheap, and this group consisted of 17 vehicles.
