As we wanted to fly back to Switzerland as directly as possible, we decided to travel from Lima via Punta Cana and spend another day relaxing on the beach there. For this purpose, we also booked a room in a beautiful resort to experience another night under palm trees and 24 more hours of summer before returning to the now nasty fall weather. Take a look at the pictures, do we still need to say anything?
Yes, we do! No question, the facility is top-notch, the room was a suite, but we simply didn't want to have the usual all-inclusive circus with the famous, infamous all-inclusive guests. For that, we even paid extra, hoping to find a completely normal hotel (where you pay extra for your drinks). No luck, we ended up in the middle of the standard Dominican vacation concept - with the subtle difference that we were given different wristbands that granted us access to the more exclusive restaurants, etc. Although check-in took a whopping 45 minutes, no one explained to us how the whole thing works. In general, it's all more appearance than reality. We were tired, angry, and somewhat overwhelmed after three weeks in South America. Eventually, good old cynicism came to the rescue and we had an amusing evening. You could conduct a case study of human behavior as usual at the buffets. It's okay if you don't want to finish a too large portion. But if you don't eat what you scooped yourself, you deserve to be beaten. It's interesting that in a country where large parts of the population live below the poverty line, tons of food end up in the trash cans of the resorts. Well, we've seen it now, 24 hours were okay, 48 hours would have been okay too, but the thought of spending two or three weeks in such cookie-cutter places makes your hair stand on end. The good thing about it is that we're now even more looking forward to home and the wonderful November weather. See you soon.
