Hi guys,
it's done! We have found a hopefully loyal companion for our travels. For those who don't know what I'm talking about, we have found a car!😍
Last night was the first night that I would say I slept fairly well! The reason for this was probably that it was also the first day that we managed not to take a nap during the day. Well rested, we started the day! We stuck to our daily routine, so we freshened up in the bathroom and then had breakfast! For breakfast, we had the remaining wraps that we bought last night for dinner and a little bit of cereal.
Because of the extra sleep, we both felt much better and were in a good mood.
At 11 o'clock we had our next appointment to view a car.
According to the ad on the internet, we really liked the car, so we were curious if it could meet our "expectations"!
And what can I say? It did! The sellers of the car are a couple from Finland who used the car for a 6-week trip across the country. We instantly liked the two of them and they gave us a good first impression of the car. They showed us every little detail and it seemed as if they had nothing to hide! Everything was very well maintained, clean, and in good condition. Even the engine compartment looked spotless considering the 250,000 kilometers the car has driven!
Speaking of equipment, the car has exactly what you need! Not much more, but also not less. Camping equipment is taken care of, the car has air conditioning, and as a little highlight, it also has a roof tent! For those who don't know what a roof tent is, it is actually, as the name suggests, an attachment for the car that can be transformed into a fully functional tent within minutes. It's super practical and has some significant advantages over "sleeping in the car" here in Australia, especially in terms of heat development during the day! But I'll tell you more about that when I can show you everything with some photos.
We took a test drive and the two of them showed us again how to set up the roof tent. We had imagined it to be quite complicated, but we were convinced otherwise! It's actually a clever technique that will be quick to set up with a little practice and routine!😊
We briefly negotiated the price, and managed to get several hundred dollars off, and then told them that we would contact them later in the day regarding our purchase decision.
As soon as we were back in the hostel room, we quickly agreed that this was our car!
We weighed the pros and cons again, compared to the other cars, and ultimately decided with great joy on the car that I just described. I'll stop teasing you now. It's a 2006 Ford Escape.
Here are some pictures!
So we told the Scandinavians that we have decided on their car and now we are meeting tomorrow to handle the paperwork and payment!😊 After that, we will drive the two of them to their accommodation and then it's time! We will drive with our own car in Australia back to our hostel and in a way, we are free!😍
We mainly enjoyed the weather for the rest of the day, lay in the sun for a bit, and just had a delicious burger to celebrate!😊
The only thing that may have gone a little unfavorably today is that this morning we extended our stay in a hostel right next door for another two nights! We just assumed that we would need a little longer with the car search, but I don't want to complain that we found one so quickly after all!😊
We see the positive side! This way, we still have two very relaxed days here in Brisbane, where we are healthy again for the first time and we can also do whatever we want since we are mobile now!😍
In addition, we can fully enjoy the luxury of the hostel again, as we will finally no longer sleep in the middle of Brisbane's party center! A really good thought!
So, as I said, tomorrow morning we will switch hostels and tomorrow evening you can look forward to a blog post where we can already call ourselves proud car owners!
Greetings from Brisbane, Australia!🇦🇺
Your Tim!😊
