I apparently wasn't fully awake today when I set off shortly after 8 a.m. Because after just a few meters I went in the wrong direction and this happened two more times.

The bridge over the Rhône was difficult to cross because it was closed in my direction. Situations like this occur regularly, and then you have to be bold or creative. Otherwise, you're lost and waste a lot of time.

A small cruise ship came down the Rhône under the bridge. It was also the only boat I saw throughout the trip.

Like yesterday, the route was very varied and mostly followed well-signposted paths. The GPS was almost unnecessary.

Yesterday, Komoot showed me that my distance was exactly 100 kilometers, but the on-board computer of my bike recorded 103. This surprised me a lot, as the two values are usually almost identical. But this morning my bike showed 32 when Komoot only had 30. Suddenly I realized that my bike had very soft suspension. Only then did I consider that the rear wheel was not inflated enough. So I looked for a gas station to pump it up. And indeed, instead of 3 bars, it was only half. So the reason for the extra kilometers became clear to me. The distance on a bike is measured by the circumference of the wheel, and with less air, the circumference becomes smaller and thus turns more often, which automatically leads to more kilometers.

The bike lanes that go over the bridges are sometimes so narrow that I prefer to push the bike. I simply feel more comfortable, and safety comes before speed. And again today, there were some bridges to cross.

I knew a pleasant surprise awaited me in Valence today. André and Sofi left home early to visit me, and this time not to pick me up.

As luck would have it, we arrived at the hotel we had booked almost simultaneously. Even though I knew it, it was a joyful encounter. And since it wasn't even 1 p.m. yet, we had plenty of time to do something together. Now we're looking forward to having dinner and breakfast together. After that, we will go our separate ways, André and Sofi will drive home by car, and I will continue cycling towards Geneva.
