Now we have been living in an apartment for a few days. Luckily, because the weather is already in the 'wet season', it's hot (38 degrees with 80-100% humidity) and there are occasional thunderstorms and rain. We now enjoy the 'luxury' of a real bed (where it doesn't matter if it rains), and it's also great to have a refrigerator, electricity whenever we want, and we can even cook after sunset, etc. Yes, we appreciate things like electricity, shower, refrigerator, rainproof roof, etc. much more than before. We have learned that it is possible to be happy with a simple lifestyle and everything else is a luxury. Everyone who can live in this luxury should consider themselves lucky, because so many people in this world only know the very simple life (and do not receive any state assistance, etc.).
We are proud of ourselves and our car Maxi, that we set off to explore almost 2/3 of the Australian continent. At the beginning, our dear Maxi had some issues, but afterwards, she drove like a wild animal everywhere and brought us back safely to Darwin.
Padi and I have spent 1824 hours together. 76 days 24 hours and our love and friendship for each other has grown. We were allowed / had to go through every beautiful place, every adventure, every fear, every annoyance, and every breakdown together. And yes, there were also moments when we didn't love each other quite as much (e.g. when we run out of fuel, when the tent blows away, after 10 hours of driving). The good thing in nature is that everyone can find peace for 15 minutes in nature and then continue as a team.
We would go on another road trip immediately if the opportunity arises. This feeling of freedom is indescribable. However, we are of the opinion that we want to retire our beloved Maxi with her 493,364 km for another road trip.
Now we are enjoying our time in Darwin (it almost feels like home). Afterwards, we will fly to the metropolises of Melbourne and Sydney before going to Thailand for 3 weeks. And in less than 3 months, we will be back home in Germany.
