25.03.2023 from Ballina to Byron Bay
It rained, but not as much as the neighbor suspected. We move on to the next place, but first we trudge up a small hill to a lookout, which is unfortunately closed due to construction work. In the dense coastal forest, it is pleasantly cool on the hiking trail, and it doesn't take long for the cicadas to start a deafening noise and stop it again after a reasonable time. We drive to Byron Bay, the easternmost point of the Australian mainland. We spend our time at the pool at the campground, and to get to the sea, we have to walk a few kilometers. Our dinner is also hard work, 2.5 km there and 2.5 km back for a small meal, consisting of 5 green shrimps for me and 5 thinly sliced tuna for Frank, for both plus 3 beers, some olives, bread and water, we also paid 141 AUD, 94 €. But it doesn't matter. Now we are sitting in the camp kitchen and smelling what the families have on the table, pizza, doner kebab and at the French table, a fully set table, just like at home with red wine.
Oh yes, and the Australian immigration authority kindly informed us by email that our 90-day visa expires on 01.04.2023, please leave the country or apply for an extension in a timely manner. Very kind.
