We reached Tampere after several endless straight Finnish country road kilometers, which exhausted some of us more than others. Once we arrived, we settled down at the municipal campsite and took advantage of the beautiful evening hours for jogging. The next morning, Anne was motivated to turn my shaggy mane back into a reasonable hairstyle. Scissors and even a hair clipper had been brought along specifically for this grand moment, allowing Anne's creativity to run wild. Looking at myself in the mirror, I wanted to make a correction with the clipper. A miscommunication about its setting resulted in me having a short 8mm haircut again =D
A little disappointed, we then went sightseeing in the city, which cheered us up with its length, as Tampere is an old industrial city between two lakes that perfectly combines the architecture of past economic times with modern city design. If you know Plagwitz, you got a taste of the almost complete cityscape there in this Leipzig district. So we took two days to gain a comprehensive insight into this gem after the Lapland wilderness of the past few days, and spent the night at a public halfpipe under a bridge - a cheap choice because it was free, but also an unfortunate one because teenagers wanted to train their skills there at 2 a.m., causing us some sleep problems with their crashes.
If the first day in the city was rainy, the second day invited us to walk through the southern park by the water to a lookout tower and from there find our way back to the city center, taking a break in a "worker's café" and exploring numerous redesigned or newly used commercial and residential areas. But the pictures show more than I could explain.
