Verdun - Dun-sur-Meuse
A terrible night is behind us. It rained and stormed so awfully that no one got any sleep. The dampness in the cabins has reached its peak, everything is just clammy and cold. We pack up the boat early - we have a date with our lockkeeper.
Exceptionally, everything works perfectly at the locks today. We make excellent progress, which may also be because we are suddenly traveling downstream. We are accompanied to the Warinvaux lock, after which everything is automatic again.
For today, we have chosen Dun-sur-Meuse to dock, a small village that (as we will find out tomorrow morning) has the best baguettes and croissants. Our gray heron Brigitte has left us, but a cormorant is waiting for us at the landing:
To avoid the rain as much as possible, we all play a round of Munchkin before - HALLELUJAH - the showers are unlocked and we can finally all take long, hot showers while standing in the port.
In the evening, Lara and I 'baked' and decorated for Denis' 30th tomorrow. And in between, we went to look at the Milky Way :-)
