After a little detour including a second breakfast in Nrw, we arrived in Kehl just before darkness fell. Kehl is a small town right next to Strasbourg. Here we spent the night on a hiking parking lot right by the Rhine, in order to visit Strasbourg the next day. With its many half-timbered houses and small bridges, the city resembles Amsterdam. Many people rush through the alleyways on bicycles and we also explored the city by bike. Although the weather didn't always cooperate as we wanted, we had a nice day.
Since parking in the city center of Strasbourg becomes very expensive after a certain time, we drove on to Montbéliard on the same day. Here, too, we simply parked with Pumpkin at the edge of a forest on a parking lot. However, we decided to go to a campground the next day to be able to take a proper shower.
Montbéliard turned out to be a beautiful, small town, but also quickly visited. So on the same day (08.03) we set off for Aix-les-Bains. We drove through the French Alps for hours. The roads changed from very curvy to bumpy and curvy again... This turned out to be good driving training and after 1-2 hours I knew Pumpkin's width exactly. After 8 1/2 hours of driving, we arrived in Aix-les-Bains. As we drove past the nearby lake, the lights of the houses reflected in the water. Hardly any cars were driving on the streets. A dreamlike sight.
We will probably stay here for a few more days.
