Quebec City

Udgivet: 03.11.2018

Dating back to 1608, Quebec City is one of the oldest cities in North America and very European in its cityscape. I'm sure it's pretty and beautiful and nice and interesting and whatnot, but definitely not in November! The weather is really shitty: due to the St Lawrence river -I was told- there is a constant cold wind blowing and throughout the day the initial icy drizzle turned into pouring rain leaving me soaking wet and freezing in the early afternoon.

Nevertheless I set out to see the Battlefields Park, the citadel and parts of Old Quebec (or to be more precise: le Parc des Champs-de-Bataille, la Citadelle et Vieux-Québec - for the Francophiles among you ;-). However, as you can see from the pictures it was not much fun!

Hopefully, the weather will change for the better in the next couple of days to leave me (and you) with a more favorable impression...

Here is my conclusive verdict on Quebec: after my second and third day I've come to like Quebec a bit better. Yes, it may be considered pretty, a conclusion which in my case is mainly based on the change in weather. The city encompasses some beautifully restored houses and stretches of road, however, judging from my spoiled and arrogant European perspective, it looks too perfect and well-done to me. The stone houses remind me more of a historical movie set than that they resembled actual historical buildings.

Life isn't always sunshine 😎 especially during autumn on the northern half of the earth. Ok, if you go more south it might be better (i.e. Lao PDR 🙏)

Ich mag keine Bilder mit fremden Menschen. Als Misanthropist würde ich mich noch nicht bezeichnen :-p
