Silke and I got up at 5 o'clock this morning because the jet lag wouldn't let us sleep anymore. But that was pretty good because it allowed us to leave the ship and walk to Times Square at dawn. It was an amazing experience to see this usually completely crowded place with almost no people. Too bad Silke lost her phone on the way there. What a shame! Instead, we spent an interesting half hour in a completely run-down New York police station to get a confirmation for the insurance. Poor country if all police stations should look like this on the inside. After a hearty breakfast with the kids and Iris, we headed to the skyscrapers of Manhattan. Once again, we walked through Times Square to get to Central Park and the Rockefeller Center.
A day like this goes by damn quickly in New York, your feet get tired and you're pretty worn out in the evening. Our ship already set sail at 5 o'clock, so we had to be back on board by 4 o'clock. After the obligatory and quite interesting lifeboat drill with life jackets, we spent the evening mainly eating.
