Ohaiyou Gozaimasu.... This morning we landed at Tokyo Haneda Airport shortly after 6am. Tokyo greeted us with cold temperatures of around 3 degrees. After the 27 degrees yesterday in Sydney, this was quite a change. Since public transportation works incredibly well here, we were already at our hotel, InterContinental Tokyo Bay, by 7:30am. Actually, check-in was only possible at 3pm, but after some back and forth and thanks to my IHG membership card, we immediately got a very nice room with a great view of the river.
In the afternoon, we took the subway again to Shibuya (that's where the crazy intersection is and where the dog Hachiko waited in vain for his owner for ten years), to meet our dear friend Michel, who specially scheduled himself on the Lufthansa plane to Tokyo (he works there as a flight attendant), just to see us. Isn't that amazing 😀! We celebrated our reunion in style. And that means in a Japanese restaurant with a lot of delicious Wagyu beef that we grilled ourselves at our own table grill. After saying goodbye to Michel, we happily and satisfied took the train back to Hamamatsucho station and walked to the hotel. It was an absolute top deluxe evening 😉. And the best part is, we will see Michel again in New York 👍😀.
Oh, by the way.... today we have reached the halfway point of our journey. It's incredible what we have experienced and seen so far. We are very excited to see what else awaits us.....
