Good morning Bangkok, I slept very well but still feel exhausted. Yesterday afternoon, we took a ferry to the King's Palace. It is closed until October 29, 2017. The King passed away on October 13, 2016, and a one-year state mourning was declared. Public servants were recommended to wear black for a year. We noticed this immediately when we arrived at the airport. Bangkok is predominantly dressed in black. Even our hotel offers guests the option to dye white shirts black.

From the King's Palace, we walked through the streets and gained many impressions. The Thais are all super friendly😃 and helpful. Like in Vietnam, life takes place on the sidewalks. There is grilling, cooking, or tea being offered on every corner. The traffic was very pleasant, although I should mention that we were not in the city center.

It looked like it might rain from midday onwards, and there were some lightning flashes from early evening, but nothing worse. As we sat outside for dinner on a covered terrace by the river, it started pouring, it was in-saaaaaaaaane. The locals were totally relaxed and didn't care about what was coming down from above. My mouth was open for a long time. Just in time for us to leave, it stopped raining, and our server said we could still catch a ferry to the hotel boat at 8:25 pm. Not a chance, no more ferries after 7:00 pm.😎

We then took a taxi back to the hotel, and the driver was really nice and didn't rip us off. Thanks to the taxi ride through the city, we could admire some illuminated shopping centers. It's incredible how gigantic they look here.😃

My stomach is growling, we're going for breakfast now (hopefully delicious), and then we'll start sightseeing the temples. We have a lot planned for today. Hm, when I look out the window, the sun☀ is shining at me, oh well, I would prefer some clouds ☁⛅ for our temple tour.

Greetings from Bangkok

Daniela told me to mention that I dared to try a local dish for dinner. After mainly eating rice with soy sauce in Vietnam for four weeks🙊, it was already an experience for both of us yesterday 😂! It was delicious 😅!
