2 good decisions!
Slept well, the heater turned on last night and I didn't get cold even without a blanket.
Last night I had dinner with Elvira at the 'Galicia' restaurant, Moritz decided at short notice to shop at the supermarket and cook something for himself. He missed something. The restaurant is very rustic from the outside as well as the inside. The owner proudly tells us that the restaurant has been operated for 105 years in the 4th generation. He recommends scallops to us according to the house's recipe for dinner. When we arrived at the restaurant, it was said that the kitchen would not open until 8:30 p.m., not before 8:00 p.m. So have a beer and some small talk to pass the time. And the landlord puts an appetizer on the table for us, 2 scallops according to the house's recipe for each .... we are convinced we have made the right choice ...... and it was a culinary delight.
First good decision, a great dinner in a great location.
This morning it is raining, when I leave the door of the hostel again quite early, not heavy but steady. Rain jacket and umbrella come to use. However, this does not detract from my good mood. For my stage today, I have opted for a variation that is slightly longer, but leads through the forest and not along the road. The rain subsides and finally stops completely. Then I make the second good decision. Behind a bridge, the 'Ruta da Aqua' presents itself as a variant, a bit further, but what the heck. A dream path winds its way through the woods always along a river. I have breakfast a bit earlier, but it must be here, on this section. I don't encounter a single soul all morning, the enchanting nature all to myself, what a luxury.
Driven by the success of the first route variation, I choose the next one behind a small village. First, my path leads me through a very beautiful heath landscape (... greetings to the Teven Heath ..); then the landscape changes and I cross a quarry. On the wider paths, I clearly see the traces of heavy machinery, today is Saturday, there is no work here. On the narrow paths that I use, no one has apparently gone for quite some time. The prickling of the thorny undergrowth is the price for the beautiful scenario that presents itself to me here.
After a good hour, I reach a road again, but only for a short distance to the hostel. When I check in there, the rain starts again.
Conclusion: Today I could enjoy 6 km more on my Camino.
