What kind of life model should it be?

Udgivet: 27.08.2023

The Thought Coffee

For some time now, I, or rather we have been thinking about our way of life. Now I'm lying here on the balcony, having my morning coffee in Kahaluu-Keauhou, and finding the time to jot down my thoughts. Maybe something will come of it.

There are some well-known life guides available on the market. Sometimes in one direction, sometimes in the other. Everyone deals with the questions: Are you happy or what makes you happy? Where are you now, where do you want to go?

I think "museum days" are a very good approach, from apprentice to master too.

the other way around

In the phase of life over 50, these are relevant questions. But it is much better not to ask yourself these questions too late. For my part, I haven't asked myself these kinds of questions for a long time, but then I wasn't really able to answer them well either. We went more of a "normal" (not bad) development and creative path.

In addition to the normal ups and downs, this also included overcoming a heartless, hard-to-surmount stroke of fate without breaking it.

Partnership, family, friends (neighbors 😁), house, job,... check.

The kids are out of the house. The two are fantastic and will make your way. Plenty of time for us to just do “things”.

Men in dark blue

I love my wife for many things, most of all for doing these "things" together. Most, at least, except for the ones my darling can't enjoy. And for putting up with other things or letting me do it. I'm more of the restless type.

Honey i love you

Traveling is an important part of our lives (as are many we meet on our travels).

Die with memories, not with dreams!

As long as we can still travel without restrictions, our radius of movement is the world, then Europe, then Germany. When we then exceed 70, it will probably be the rheumatism blanket and cafe tours.

Therefore, we are now asking ourselves other important questions that we must answer in order to be able to do what we love. For others, it doesn't necessarily have to be travel. No matter what it is that fills us, it takes time to do these things.

But what is necessary for this, what is the right way?

Are you buying yourself lifetime by accumulating capital so you can retire earlier, before standard retirement? (Rather an American system that is also used by some large companies in Germany).

Do you invest your money in unpaid leave to extend the travel time you have at work? Or is offered in the form of a sabbatical? But how often can you do that?

or

Are you planning to do what you've always wanted to do when you retire?

I realize that these questions are luxury questions. But since we are in a fortunate position, it's just the things that concern us.

At the moment we are trying to live "things" in the NOW. However, the last word has not yet been spoken on this, perhaps it will be something like a hybrid model.
