The train is a symbol of life to me: sitting still and yet moving forward quickly. (Wolfgang Korruhn)

We have completed our longest Trans-Siberian journey. Unfortunately for Vero and me, it was probably also the last journey.

After we cleaned up, packed, and had breakfast, we set off.

Excerpt
First we took a taxi from Solzan to Baikalsk and then got on the train.

However, we still had seat reservations (so it was ordinary train travel on seats and without a bed). In Irkutsk, we had a wait of many hours, during which we walked around the city a bit and ate at a 'beer house'. Unfortunately, my ribs weren't as delicious as they look in the picture...

We also had to do some larger groceries to avoid starving on the train.
Then, in the middle of the night, we boarded the Trans-Siberian. Since there were 5 of us, we had a complete compartment to ourselves and an additional bed in the neighboring compartment. Time went by very quickly. We mostly slept,
Lay down
ate,
Indulge
drank,
Brown bear beer
and played.
But we also rested and read. :-)
When we arrived in Omsk, everything went smoothly. A second cousin of Vero, Alexandra, picked us up.
26 years without seeing each other and yet immediately recognized!

Then we drove to our apartment. When we arrived, we were more than relieved. The apartment is really big and beautiful. :-)
Pictures will definitely be added later.
After a little exercise and some personal hygiene, Alexandra took us out for pizza. Afterwards, we took a little walk through our new neighborhood.

Now we are lying in our new home, full and satisfied. Tomorrow we will go shopping and explore the city.

A little addition to our accommodation in Solzan by Lake Baikal, the Guest House Siberia. The accommodation is truly stunning and the hostess is very nice. Since my father is still planning to run the Baikal Ice Marathon, a return visit is not out of the question... ;-)

Greetings from Omsk,

Vero & Tim & others
