Whether the headline fits today is still quite uncertain.
Perhaps another one would fit better, something like: hopefully I'll find something to sleep; damn, it's cold; there are stupid ideas and then there's mine.
Something like that might fit better.
The alarm clock rang at 4 o'clock. And then off to the train that departs from Wernigerode to Berlin at 5:40.
A really calm and relaxed journey, no screaming children or weird people, except for myself of course. And the most important thing is also on board, a power outlet.
It's 7:30 and I'm tired.
By the way, I won't see daylight in the next few days, well... it's not really special with my pale skin.
Next, I'm taking the next plane to Alta at 3:35 pm
I finally landed around 6 pm. Despite the pilot saying the conditions are not ideal and we have to circle around again because the runway is frozen.
Then I spontaneously met someone for dinner through CouchSurfing. With Henry and his friend, whose name I forgot. We had a cozy meal together until we parted ways around 9 pm. And each went their own way.
The two of them are on a Scandinavian tour by car. They were still in Alta today, actually wanted to go to the North Cape again but the route seems to have been closed due to snow/ice... weather, you know.
They told me something too. For example, about this cathedral.
Entrance fee there is €10 just to get in and have a look at it. Henry also said that Alta is exactly the small sleepy town he imagined it to be.
By the way, the city center consists of what feels like one building with a parking garage. So huge.
I walked out of the city and now I'm looking for a place to stay overnight. Hopefully I'll find something without being nibbled on by wolves.
By the way, everything is icy, roads, sidewalks... everything is so slippery that everything is super smooth.
In case you haven't noticed yet, I'm writing partly in the past, present, and future. You should challenge the reader, right? 😅 Actually, I'm just writing when I have time between incidents, so I don't forget. Last time, I also texted Doro, Niki, and Majana at the same time.
Finally.
The tent is set up. I found a small campsite where I'm actually not supposed to be because there are only cabins and at most caravans at this time of year. But the good thing is that the common room is open and I can charge my phone and refill my water there.
The tent is also really just set up provisionally. 4 pegs and the tarp thrown over... that's it.
If you should ask how cold it is. It's around 1°C, so it's okay. It's enough. And after a few kilometers out of Alta, I wonder if it really was such a great idea... it's dark and there's no sidewalk or anything. And cars drive here too. It was different in October with my scooter.
By the way, I don't know why some pictures are crooked or twisted. 🤷♂️ But I don't care either 😅
