On Thursday morning (June 22, 2017), the campsite wakes up early and also gets me out of bed. After a walk around the lake with Rango and a hearty breakfast, we head towards the Linz Old Town along the Danube River. The morning is still a bit hazy but already very warm. About 5km and almost an hour later, I find myself on the busy Linz Main Square. After a tour of the old town district and an ice cream, I start looking for a shady spot to have lunch and then take a nap for an hour. The temperature has now exceeded 30°C, while the motivation for sightseeing has reached a low point. I spend the afternoon getting a haircut, making inquiries at the fishing shop, and running errands. In the late afternoon, I am back at the campsite and according to the GPS, I have covered almost 30km. I decide to take it easy the following day and spend the evening in Linz again.
Friday passes quickly with swimming and relaxing at Plechinger Lake. Around 9:00 PM, I set off again. Originally, I wanted to go straight back to the old town. However, on the way there, the illuminated pilgrimage church on Pöstlingberg catches my eye in the darkness. So I take a small detour and am rewarded with a magnificent view of the night-time Linz around eleven o'clock. I descend along the mountain railway to the banks of the Danube, where there is still lively activity. On the other side of the river, I treat myself to a late-night snack (a cheese Krainer). Then I stroll slowly through the city, meandering back towards the campsite. At half past two, this day ends next to my faithful companion.
