Our journey takes us further west. Away from the coast and back into the desert.
Originally, the plan was to photograph and observe flamingos on the coast in Walvisbaay. But this morning the fog was so thick that we could barely see 5 meters ahead. Upon closer inspection, we could make out the outlines of flamingos, but there was no chance of taking photos. As soon as we left the coast and entered the desert, we had the most beautiful weather. Blue sky with not a single cloud in sight.
On our way, we crossed a small mountain range, which once again gave us a beautiful view of the landscape.
We reached our first destination, Solitaire, around noon. Solitaire is a tiny village that seems to consist of a lodge, a gas station, and a bakery.
But the village is known and worth a visit for this bakery in particular. They pride themselves on making the best apple pie in Namibia.
I definitely didn't want to miss out on that. I had to try an apple pie. And it was...... yes, very delicious =)
After a little refreshment, there was still something special to photograph in Solitaire. A small car cemetery.
The second part of our journey today took us to Sesriem, where we set up our campsite for the night.
