Ipoh - 24 hours in the Malaysian wilderness
What can I say about Ipoh? We had high expectations but were bitterly disappointed and had to leave Ipoh after only 24 hours. When we arrived at noon, all the temples in the city were closed as they only open for half a day. Ipoh is a Chinese city, a fusion of several places. Located in a valley surrounded by mountains, there is not much to see here.
The taxi driver took us to various temples, of course all closed, and talked a lot about life in Malaysia as an Indian. These people certainly haven't had an easy time here.
The only highlight in Ipoh was the coffee, which is brewed with condensed milk and is extremely sweet. The Chinese food was also quite unusual. However, our accommodation was really cool. Other than that, it was honestly nothing, it reminded me a lot of Hannover, one of the most desolate cities in Germany. There was simply nothing to see here and we didn't want to visit the nearby Cameron Highlands, so we decided to go to Penang one day earlier.
Our last stop in Malaysia!
