After a 2-hour stopover in Singapore, I have arrived at the final leg of my journey to New Zealand. This time, my best friend is not 51A but 42K. Sitting next to me are two middle-aged men. After a short while, the so-called breakfast is served. Since I believe it should be lunchtime, I decide to have Singapore noodles instead of the omelette. I have made better decisions in the past. The food is not really good. The noodles have a peculiar taste and the side dish is unidentifiable. I still don't know what I actually ate. Probably some kind of mushroom.
I'm surprised by the quality of the music library. It has some of my favorite bands, such as Panic! At the Disco and The 1975. I quickly find interesting movies as well. My choices are Love, Simon and Mulan. Here's my sleep plan for this flight: Since this flight takes place during the day in New Zealand time, I will try not to sleep at all. That's why I take a nap of about an hour at around 3:00 PM. The flight is very pleasant. There are hardly any turbulences. Have I mentioned which plane I'm on? It's a Boeing 787 by Air New Zealand. After a few more hours of flying, dinner is served. Since I don't really like couscous, I opt for the fish with rice. The food is not bad, but very spicy.
Time flies and we slowly begin our descent for landing. Since it's nighttime, I unfortunately can't see much of the landscape. I disembark the plane and make my way to passport control. I'm quite nervous, but the staff is very friendly and the nervousness quickly subsides. Luckily, my luggage has made it to New Zealand without any scratches. I leave the airport and ask an airport staff member for the best way to get to my hotel, the Heartland Hotel. He takes me back into the airport and calls the hotel to arrange a free shuttle for me. I thank him and eagerly await the pick-up service. After about 20 minutes, I'm picked up by a middle-aged man. We find topics to talk about for the entire ride. I check into my hotel room and fall exhausted into bed. What a journey!
