Day 24. Stockholm

Publicatu: 24.06.2017

Hello everyone,

Today we have Stockholm on the agenda. We wake up early because we want to do some shopping and refuel the gas, and since there are very few LPG stations in Sweden, we are happy that the smartphone tells us that there is a gas station for LPG just 200 meters away from us.

Let's go! We land at a small shipyard and at the very back there is indeed a gas pump. Unfortunately, we realize that out of the 4 possible adapters for Europe, only 3 are in the motorhome. And guess which one we need in Sweden? 😤 Exactly the one that is not there! Thank goodness the staff is very helpful and finds the right one for our gas system in a collection of various adapters. 😁

Now a quick stop at the nearby Lidl and then off we go towards Stockholm. We drive for about 1.5 hours until we reach Stockholm. In the middle of Stockholm, I feel like I'm back in Florence, except that the scooter drivers have been replaced by cyclists here.

At the other end of the city, we find a parking lot for €3.50 per hour 😳

We walk to Stockholm.

Apart from the fact that there are way too many people for my taste, even though Stockholm has about the same number of inhabitants as Frankfurt, it seems like they are all gathered in one place, and that's with us 🤓. Stockholm is an amazingly beautiful city that is definitely worth a visit. The old town is intersected by canals, which explains the nickname 'Venice of Scandinavia'. However, without handbag sellers. :-)

After a few hours in the city, we decide to continue our journey today. However, we still need to make an unplanned stop.... in the middle of Stockholm, Nala's harness said goodbye, so we had to make sure every few meters that the dog didn't wander around the old town of Stockholm alone. If you know the temperament of my dog, you know that "wandering around alone" is the right phrase.

We received excellent advice at the pet store and were able to purchase a new harness there.

Back to the motorhome and another 200 km north. The kids are sleeping in the back seats and the highway is nice and empty.

We arrive in Gävle, quickly park, and go to bed after a long day.

So then,

see you tomorrow.......
