This Captain! Yesterday we set course for Orgosolo, inland. In 1903, the residents of Orgosolo fought over the inheritance of a wealthy deceased Orgolese. Let's call him Don Wimbaldo! In the following years, one vendetta followed another. Previously, one could secure their income by plundering and looting the next wealthy town with a horde of Orgolese. But now they focused on killing each other. No wonder the residents of Orgosolo did not have the best reputation among those on the Italian mainland. All attempts to bring the city under control through a Carabinieri show of force failed. To this day, the Ogos successfully rebel against anything the Italian government has planned for them. Whether it's a military base, expanding a nature reserve into their region, or whatever... To express their protest, they paint their houses and no longer crack each other's heads! It looks better too...!
The Captain told us all about this during the tour of Orgosolo yesterday. But what must have interested him the most, besides the cultural dose for us - and only the Captain could have known this - was the fact that the current world record holder for 'Most Pizzas baked in one hour, 12 hours, and one day' lived in Orgosolo. To our delight, the Captain threw a Quattro Stagioni that the three of us devoured. Jipey!
Then we went back to the coast, almost directly (a bridge was unexpectedly closed)...
