Pink Granite Coast

Two days ago we continued along the coast to Trélévern. We got a place by the sea at the campsite, with a beautiful view of the bay! We have this magnificent view from both the sun lounger and the motorhome (Thomas even cleaned the windows 😁) 😊

Yesterday we just lazed around on our 'plot' at around 20 °C and sunny, as it was supposed to be the sunniest day of the week here 😎

Today we explored the area with the Smart car (and the weather was even better than yesterday 😊). Among other things, we went to Ploumanac’h, which has become one of the most visited holiday resorts on the Granite Coast. The huge and unusually shaped granite colossi, which extend from the land far out into the sea, are worth seeing here.

From Ploumanac’h to Perros-Guirec, the approximately four-kilometre-long Sentier des Douaniers (Customs Officer's Path) leads. Its name reveals that it was originally built to stop pirates and smugglers. In the early 19th century, customs officers patrolled here because high protective tariffs and Napoleon I's Continental System made their business lucrative. Today it is a (tourist) hiking trail through the bizarre rocks of the Granite Coast.

The granite mountains were formed about 300 million years ago. The magma mass did not quite reach the earth's surface, so it cooled slowly and formed a fine or coarser grain, giving granite its name.

The only downside was that we had to explore this tourist attraction with a face mask 😷 Luckily, it wasn't much warmer than about 22 °C 😉

We continued to other various "viewpoints" until we reached Lannion.
