Chobe National Park, Victoria Falls and Hwange National Park

Publicatu: 10.10.2019

After the excursion to the Okavango Delta, we continued to Chobe National Park in Botswana. During the early morning safari drive, there were territorial fights between a group of two lions and a group of three lions. We followed the 'escape' of the two younger males and heard a powerful roar from the older lion. In the evening, we went back to the park, this time on a boat on the Chobe River. From there, we saw hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and buffalos.

The next stop was Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. This is also where the first 22-day trip ended. Besides the impressive waterfalls, there are only overpriced restaurants and street vendors who advertise everything with 'today special price for you'.

From there, the second trip started, which takes us from Victoria Falls to Johannesburg over nine days. The first stop was Hwange National Park, where we saw lions and an incredible number of elephants. Unfortunately, there is a drought here at the moment, so the rangers find elephants dying of water shortage on a daily basis.

The next day, we visited the Painted Dog Conservation Center. There, we learned a lot about the life of wild dogs and also saw three of them that were being cared for due to their injuries.
