Iguazú- 2nd Day

Publicatu: 29.01.2021

Today was our 2nd day in Puerto Iguazù and our first in the Parque Nacional. However, it rained heavily and we were soaked to the bone within a short time. We felt like we were standing under the waterfall. The kids were almost in tears and we didn't find it so funny anymore, so we decided to call it quits, got raincoats in the park (ours weren't so effective), and decided to come back another day. It was more of a rush to the Garganta del Diablo, the largest waterfall, quickly taking a picture and quickly returning, so not necessarily the real deal :) we didn't even bother visiting the lower falls... At this point, we were glad not to have the camera with us :)

At the beginning, it hadn't rained yet, and we could still see the nests of birds nesting in the palms along the paths to protect their eggs from predatory toucans as they tend to avoid people...

By the way, due to the corona situation, it is currently not possible to visit the Brazilian side because you cannot cross the border by car, you can only fly into Brazil...

In the afternoon, the weather cleared up and we could take a trip to the surroundings of our lodge, where we found papaya trees, butterflies, and a lot of closed hotels (due to the pandemic). We also encountered a few Guarani (the Indian tribe that lives here), but their village cannot be visited due to Corona, which is not good for the tribe as they generate part of their income from handmade jewelry and wooden figures and guided tours. They live in an area that the government has given them. However, their cows delighted Lea :)
