Pangkor Island

Publicatu: 12.12.2018

Hi everyone! We hope you are all doing well and enjoying the busy Christmas season ;).

We've been taking it easy lately and escaped to the small island of Pangkor on the west coast of Malaysia... after 3 weeks on the farm, we wanted to relax, chill on the beach, and rejuvenate... Pangkor is the perfect place for that :) The island is relatively small (it takes about 40 minutes to drive around it on a scooter) and quite un touristy; the only attractions here are an old fort of which only the layout remains and a large ancient rock - that's it! :) On weekends, many locals from KL or Penang come to the small island to enjoy the beach and water activities like jet skiing or snorkeling... yes, it can be annoying sometimes, but during the week, you mostly see locals...

Our accommodation, Fish House Pangkor, as the name suggests, is an old fishing house that has been converted into a homestay and is located on the less touristy side of Pangkor. Here you can experience the authentic local life and enjoy the best Chinese food. The accommodation was well-maintained, beautifully decorated, and the owners were super nice, so we highly recommend it if you want to stay away from the "hustle and bustle"! Every evening, we lounged in the hammocks on the roof, listened to music, and enjoyed our beer with a view of the sea.

Many Malaysian tourists also come here just to fish for fresh fish and then go back home. :)

During the day, we explored the island and discovered the many small deserted beaches that can be reached via jungle paths or by boat... very paradise-like and the perfect environment to just do nothing! :)

At the "Pangkor Beach Fest 2018" that took place on a weekend, we met the guys from the Reggae Bar in Ipoh again who had a performance here... total Rastafaris :)

And that's it for our Pangkor experiences, very relaxed indeed... :) We'll write about our trips to KL and Malacca in another post...

Until then, Merry Christmas and Cheers! ❤️
