From backpacker to camper

Publicatu: 21.01.2020

Since we were not sure which type of car would be suitable for us, we looked at three different options: a SUV with a mattress in the car (very tight and hardly any storage space), a SUV with a rooftop tent (impractical when setting up the tent in rain and wind), and finally a campervan (no four-wheel drive). The third car we looked at was a white campervan from 1992. Even older than us, but that doesn't mean anything😀. The car has 'only' done 200,000km and has built-in wooden cabinets as well as a bed with a mattress. We found it very cozy right away and since we will be spending a lot of time in the car soon, we decided on the oldie. After a little shopping at Ikea, we feel very comfortable in our new little home. On January 18, 2020, we headed towards the Great Ocean Road. The road winds about 240km along the coast, through small cute surfer towns, and with great views of nature. We were able to stay at a free campsite for the first two nights in the campervan. On the way to the second free campsite, we realized that the road turned into a gravel road and was too steep for our oldie. Maybe he could have made it, but we didn't want to take any risks.😊 5km further, we found an intersection on the road with a campground right by the river. This cost us 70AUSD (about 40EUR), but we have a warm shower and a nice place to stay. But that's not all. About 15 white and 2 black cockatoos were flying around us, screeching from tree to tree. It was really lively! We fired up the camping stove and ended the evening with a game of badminton.😊

So lässt es sich leben 😏. Die Autosuche klingt aufjedenfall auch irgendwie stressig, aber der schaut richtig schnuckelig aus.

Ja, das ist er. Wir sind sehr zufrieden 😊
