Granite Gorge National Park

Publicatu: 20.04.2017

Even the next morning we don't give up hope and set out on the search for platypuses again. Nothing again...

We get in the car and drive to Mareeba. Here we upload the latest blog posts in McDonalds (because of good wifi) and head to Granite Gorge National Park. The campsite is located in the middle of the national park and serves as the starting point for a short hike into the surrounding nature. After recharging, we explore the park and encounter another animal that we really wanted to see in Australia: wallabies. The little kangaroos hop around happily in the national park and are just as interested in tourists as tourists are in them.

Not only the animals, but also the nature in Granite Gorge amazes us. Rocks, rivers, and forests dominate the landscape and make us stop more than once to enjoy the view. After the hike, we relax in front of our camper and enjoy the beautiful weather. Slowly, it becomes clear to us that our camping days are coming to an end, and we decide to savor the last few days. We are especially grateful for the valuable tips from the Danish family who recommended this stunning region to us. The strong contrast to the coastal region is something we really like, and we decide to follow one more tip from the family: Daintree National Park and Port Douglas.
