Bremen Vegesack and Rhododendron Park

Publicatu: 19.05.2023

For even more maritime flair, we went to Bremen Vegesack in the morning. Friedrich Engels once called this district 'an oasis in the Bremen desert'.

Indeed, the surroundings invited for a walk along the water and in the city park.

However, to get the impression of idyll, one had to ignore the construction sites and industrial shipyards a bit.

In the former harbor, which was once artificially created but has lost its former significance for a long time, the museum harbor is now located with some historical ships.

A beautiful promenade has been built along the Weser river.

Directly opposite is the Vegesack city park, which extends to the Bremen boatbuilding site.

In the street directly behind there is a street with many old villas, some of which were built by captains or shipyard owners.

Afterwards, we strolled through the shopping street, which was only two blocks away.

Afterwards, we returned to the train station and headed towards Rhododendron Park.

In May, the rhododendrons are in bloom, so the park was quite busy but also looked particularly beautiful.

Actually, we wanted to take a break in the cafe in the park, but decided to have our coffee break outside the park due to the long line.

Refreshed, we strolled through the park.

In the evening, we had tickets for the Fritz Theater and watched the play 'Reif für die Insel' (Ready for the Island). However, we were not ready for the island after our last day of vacation in Bremen.
