Saturday we got up really early because we wanted to be on time for the koala breakfast 😃. The meeting point was at 7:15 a.m. at the zoo in the immediate vicinity of our hotel. When we arrived there, there were already a few enthusiasts waiting outside.
First there was a guided tour of the zoo. We saw, among other things, small kangaroos, a really fat wombat, crocodiles and at the very end it was the turn of the koalas. We had breakfast with them, so to speak. The koalas got their beloved eucalyptus and we got our breakfast buffet - in the immediate vicinity. The critters probably sleep 18-20 hours a day. In this respect, it is not so easy to study them outside of bedtime. Looking at koalas is a bit dignified: a bit clumsy, comfortable, patient, hungry, cute and, so to speak, fall asleep right there and then after breakfast 😆. Elisa was particularly happy. She says the koalas look like Eddy (the pet tiger) 😅😁.
Afterwards we went to see the crocodiles. There is an accessible, glass column in the middle of their enclosure - surrounded by water. That's really cool. As we stood there, one of the females came directly to us from the front and kind of distracted us. We turned around and looked directly into the eyes/mouth of the other lady on the other side. We were a bit scared. Basically there was only the safety glass between us 😅. We were watched very closely. The animals have a respect-inspiring nature about them, real prehistoric monsters, animals from the dinosaur era 😅.
In the afternoon we explored the area around the harbor and passed the time there until the evening. Afterwards we got to know Sydney's nightlife and visited the Ivy Club. The organization and employees appeared very professional. It was quite amusing, a nice evening and the music was also quite good 😛.
Today we set off for Bondi Beach in fantastic weather and spent the afternoon/evening there. This is the most popular beach in Sydney. The water temperature is around 19 degrees Celsius and the waves are quite big 😅. It was very nice to be in the water, even though the numerous lifeguards were constantly ordering people out of the water because it was probably too dangerous (“No swimming”). You should go swimming on other parts of the beach. We kept hearing aggressive screaming from the air near the beach. It turned out that the parrots 🦜 are flying around everywhere and are quite loud 😅.
Good night 😴
