On Saturday, December 1, 2018, I arrived very early in Agnes Water. When the other staff members at the hostel found out that I wanted to work here, they immediately welcomed me into their team. So I was sure it was a good idea to come back here and spend Christmas.
For the first 2 days, Greg, the manager, didn't have any work for me. That's why I slept in a regular guest room and paid for the first 2 nights. After that, I moved into one of the staff rooms.... And I'm enjoying being able to spread out all my things and not just live out of a backpack 😬😊
My job is to clean the common areas early in the morning for about 2 hours. That's totally fine, and the rest of the day I have free time. The place is very small, and there's not much to do here, especially since it has been raining a lot in the past few days and the beach was not an option for me... But somehow there was always a highlight of the day 👍
We collected coconuts on the beach and then desperately tried to peel and crack them 😝. I have already been on the sunset tour twice that our hostel offers. We got a 'special beauty treatment' from a man here in town.... In the end, I found out it was a clay mask. There was a pool competition where I was actually on the winning team 🤔😂 and our prize was a free burger for dinner👍
On Saturday, we all went to the only pub in town, and I was very impressed! There is actually a shuttle bus from the pub that picks up its guests and brings them home every 30 minutes! I have never had such a service when going to a pub before 👍 and on Sunday, I went to a sort of weekly market with the other staff members. It was really nice there! I stocked up on a bunch of fruits and vegetables because they are damn expensive in the supermarket in our town!
So it's not as exciting as last month... But I think it's nice to just stay in one place 😊👍
