Punctual as the alarm clock crowed, the rooster also did today again around 4:30 - the short hour that remained for sleeping was made very varied by the alternating barking of the dogs and the clucking of the turkeys. At 5:45 (this time also really 5:45) my alarm clock rang, which seemed almost relaxing compared to the animal noise... Since I had lost an epic "paper, scissors, rock up to 1" game the night before, it was up to me to accompany the excursion today. That meant making coffee, loading lunch boxes into the car, and setting off in the dark with 2 hunters and scouts on the truck towards the second farm. Jakob, on the other hand, could sleep for almost an hour longer, as the remaining 3rd hunter wanted to hunt in the adjacent areas today and had registered 8:30 as the departure time.
Arriving at the second hunting ground, the "road" turned out to be a completely rutted, overgrown track cutting through the savannah. So I was driving a "car" that at home would probably be considered special waste, and in front of me was a road that was hardly recognizable due to its nature. As if that wasn't enough, the sun also slowly rose and was so low that I was finally blind.
... somehow we still managed to reach our destination...
At 8:30, both hunters went stalking and left me, fortunately together with another local resident, behind at the car. From now on, we were on standby, and if the hunters were successful, they would contact us via mobile phone and we would collect them together with the prey. While we were waiting, I had the opportunity to have breakfast. A cup of coffee, sandwiches with impala roast, and a fresh egg should suffice for now. The panorama from the roof of the car was indescribable.
The next stop today was a water hole - we had lunch there before continuing.
The hunting ground today definitely offers much more variety in terms of landscape than the one yesterday.
After further drives and stalking, one of the duos managed to shoot a warthog boar in the evening. So we didn't have to return home empty-handed.
For dinner, we grilled oryx today. Departure the next morning was set for 7:00 am, but since we were supposed to prepare breakfast at 6:30 am, the alarm clock was set for 5:45 am again. That's why we went to bed at 10:00 pm.
