Off to the island

The long journey was worth it, we have arrived in paradise, at least for a few days. The journey here was especially long. We took a minibus from Bangkok to Trat (5 hours), where we were then thrown out on the side of the road in a rush. 3 men took our luggage and then we had to wait....half an hour later we were sitting in an open pickup truck and driven to the ferry. Adventurous, but surprisingly everything worked out (even without many words).

Once we arrived on the island, it was already dark and we had to get into the next shared taxi (pickups with benches in the loading area). In the discussion about the price, we realized that our hotel is located at the (other) end of the island. So everyone got on and drove along the hilly road in the darkness, with inclines that you wouldn't even see on public roads in the Alps. Along the way, we saw an accident. We finally arrived on the verge of a nervous breakdown. It felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. But after about 100m, our resort appeared and we were standing more or less directly at the coolest beach bar! After a spontaneous room upgrade, we treated ourselves to a beer (a shot would have been more appropriate after the journey!).

Anyway, we're here. The location is fantastic! The restaurant is less than 10m from the sea, and when we looked out of the window this morning in daylight, our mouths dropped in astonishment! Simply amazing.

So today is a beach day. Tomorrow, we want to explore the island.
