It's not always worth saving some money on a flight to Thailand. Especially when choosing a flight with 'Layover', one should choose carefully!
This time I flew with Air China, which allowed me to save some money. I knew they belonged to the Star Alliance, so everything should be fine :-)
Very unfriendly cabin crew, poor service and very few meals...not recommended Beijing Airport...no comment.! The aircraft is hardly different from the others (except for legroom), as you usually fly with a 777 anyway.
Then the flight from Bangkok to Beijing>6 hours, then another 10 hours across Russia, Sweden and Finland! Never again, very very exhausting. The onboard entertainment is only available in English, French and Chinese.
No one can compete with Emirates, Etihad or Qatar to the UAE. The service here is simply fantastic and the meals are extremely good. Even a menu is available in Economy Class. So my tip, if not a direct flight then with the UAE. And enjoy a flight on the A380 from Emirates. Or invest 400 euros more for a direct flight and arrive in Bangkok after 12 hours in a relaxed manner with Thai Airways!
