The calm before the storm...

Publicatu: 20.10.2017

The evening in Patong was calmer than expected. I met up with Caroline again, whom I had already traveled with in Pai. She had arrived in Patong a day before me and planned to continue to Krabi the next day. But first, I enjoyed the breathtaking sunset.

Afterwards, we met up for dinner and then headed into the city. So, if you know the Schinkenstrasse in Malle, you can imagine what it was like... Discos/bars as far as the eye can see. Pretty crazy.

And of course, there was an Oktoberfest. Caroline really wanted to have German beer, so we went there. It was quite funny, they had Erdinger and there was Leberkas... 'I'm at home'... That's what I thought... After that, Caroline went home and I went to a few more bars, but it was rather unremarkable.

The next day, we went to Phuket Town. A taxi was supposed to cost 300 baht (about 8 euros). But since I had read that there is also a regular bus for 30 baht, I wanted to take that. The only problem is, there are no bus stops or exact departure times here. They said you should just wait on the street... After about 30 minutes, a bus comes, you raise your arm, get on, and you're done. And what can I say, that's exactly how it was... So, I saved a lot of money 😉

When we arrived in Phuket Town, it was unfortunately a disappointment, except for one street, it was absolutely not worth seeing... Well, it doesn't matter, it was only for one night.

Today, we went to Ko Phi Phi. 2 hours by ferry from Phuket.

The island was hit hard by the tsunami back then, but it has been rebuilt since then, and what you read everywhere is true. It's a beautiful island, but it's completely overrun by tourists and also littered. Even though you pay an extra 50 cents to keep the island clean. Unfortunately, I don't notice anything of it.

Because when we arrived, we first went to the hostel and then we were supposed to go up to a viewpoint. Of course, I misread the signs and took the long way, which was 3.5 km uphill, and that with a humidity of 247% and a felt temperature of 45 degrees in the shade. Well, no matter, it was definitely worth it when I got to the top. After that, we also went into the water, even though it was low tide.

Let's see what tonight brings, there is of course a huge party street here and my hostel is right in the middle 🙉🙊🙈

Tomorrow, we're going to the next island...
