27 degrees and the sky is cloudy. Almost perfect for a stroll through Hong Kong. Marco Polo's city walk is very classic and, for me, a fixed ritual in every city. I especially love the insider tips (even if they're no longer insiders), but it's always worth it.
I started at the Victoria Promenade to look at the Avenue of Stars. Here, similar to Hollywood, handprints of well-known personalities can be seen. You probably have to live in Asia to know the people. On the same promenade there was a statue of Bruce Lee, at least I know him 😅.
Afterwards I took the subway to North Point. The harbor was beautiful, but without construction work it would certainly have been even more beautiful. There I broke away from the plan a bit and walked away from the tourist streets and between the high-rise buildings. It's shocking how different the lives of the locals are from the lives of the city and the tourists. I will probably never forget the smell of this weekly market again.
Better to quickly get back to the tourist part. Take the subway to the city center and then take the tram up to Victoria Peak. The travel guide says that you have to be there at least once in your life. And what can I say... it's true! The view over the city was amazing. Photos can't really reproduce it. By the way, it was windy up there too 😎.
I made the most beautiful discovery on the peak at the post office. There's a long mailbox there. Under the motto “Post love to the future” you can drop in postcards for certain days and they will be sent on exactly that day. How beautiful is that please? 😍 I'm a postcard fan anyway, but I want something like that at home too. I was about to write cards, but it's already questionable whether my “normal” cards will find their way to Germany. But I love this idea so much!
As I walked through the streets, I noticed the clues “Look left, Look right.” At first I had to smile, but the traffic here is on the left and it really can't hurt to look in the right direction first. I speak from experience, which of course other people besides me have gained😅
Now I'm lying on the roof terrace, enjoying the sunset and planning the day for tomorrow. And yes, unfortunately the pool will have to live without me — far too cold!
