The third day. Everyday life returns.

24.09.2018:

The third day of my trip. I reluctantly got out of bed, had breakfast, and watched series until check out at 12.

Today's challenge: from A to B by bus. The bus stops are only displayed in Thai characters. Can't find the bus stop. When asked, a local points to the bus sign a little further down. According to Google Maps, it should be ahead. Well. The bus arrives. An old model with wooden floors. No air conditioning. Rattling. A lady walks through the bus selling tickets. I show her my destination stop on my phone. She replies in English, "Seven baht." Yes, she speaks English. Not a given. For 20 cents, I travel 12 km through the city today, so I'll put on my frugal hat.

A woman even moves so I have enough space for my luggage. It's stuffy, no air conditioning, I'm sweating. Standing in the bus is torture, only the wind from driving brings some relief. After 45 minutes, we arrive at the destination. Off to the hostel. Narrow alleys lead you there. Taking off shoes is okay. Friendly reception. Clean. House cat :). Free lockers. Unpacking.

I'm heading to the Thai cooking class. I arrived in a park. I consider if I really feel like it. No! I consider how cool it would be now in a group and not alone. I turn around. On the way, I grabbed some chicken bites (5 pieces) for 60 cents. Yes! I talked to a Chinese girl in the hostel for a long time about travel, price levels, cultures, politics. The Japanese guy came into the room, the three of us talked.

Then I started typing my diary for the blog in bed. Too uncomfortable. I go down to the common room. A boy and a girl are talking in German. I say hi and join them as if it were normal. We chat for ages about travel, experiences, and worries that arise before and at the beginning of a trip. They encourage me, I feel safe and socially fulfilled. But she is flying back tomorrow and he the day after. So I have to find new cool people. It will be fine, I think to myself as I write this in the evening. Tomorrow, I will visit temples. And maybe actually start the blog in the evening.
